A creative approach to community climate action

Eco-artist Xavier Cortada provides a short talk about what he did when he learnt that rising sea levels posed a significant threat to his coastal hometown of Miami, in USA. He explains how he founded a civic movement around beautifully designed elevation markers, that both highlighted the risk of flood damage and stimulated wider discussion and actions in the local community on how to mitigate that. Including through tree replanting. The collaborative art project quickly mobilized action, but also created some controversy.
